Solo Me/E Anti-Melee Mobs Farmer
Hi all,
I'm posting build as I found the Me/E farming list alittle lacking. I've tried other builds in the list but can't seem to master any of them; so I just thought I'd post my own here to share with the other Mesmers out there. I've only tried this on Trolls (at Talus Chute) and Minotaurs (at Elona Reach) so far; but it has the ability to aggro many of them for farming. I'm still in the midst of tweaking it and see what other melee-base mobs I can farm.
IGN: Leia Love
Fast Casting: 9 (8+1) or 7 (6+1)
Inspiration Magic: 14 (10+1+3)
Earth Magic: 12
Air Magic: 2 or 6
Equipment:
Armor - I've used Enchanter's Armor for more energy. Haven't got armors to try out for now.
Weapon - I use a 20/20 Earth Staff (collector's) with Hale and Enchanting mods (more important mod is the latter here)
Skills:
1. Physical Resistance
2. Channeling
3. Glyph of Renewal {E}
4. Magnetic Aura
5. Ward Against Melee or Crystal Wave / Tenai's Crystal (as suggested by DRGN)
6. Whirlwind
7. Aftershock
8. Ether Feast
Instructions:- Pre-cast Physical Resistance and Channeling when near mob group, these 2 skills should always be recasted when expired
- Attack (at range) 1 mob to aggro the rest if they are in a pack or aggro by running and avoiding
- Once you're happy with the size of the pack, cast Glyph of Renewal followed by Magnetic Aura and Ward Against Melee, these 3 skills should be recasted when expired and always in the same order. You should always cast Glyph of Renewal and Magnetic Aura, Ward Against Melee is optional if you deem is unneccessary.
- If you use Crystal Wave / Tenai's Crystal, cast first then combo Whirlwind and Aftershock to deal damage, if you're health is around 2/3, cast Ether Feast on 1 of the mobs to recover some health when the mobs run away due to the AoE damage combo you just did on them
Note:- When faced with alot of mobs (10 or more), you're energy can almost never run out due to Channeling; however, against small packs of 2 or 3, you may run into energy problems. As such, cast only Aftershock for dealing damage or the combo when you have enough energy. My suggestion is to do around 6~8 but sometimes that's not really up to you. ;P
- If you run out of energy, just try to keep enough to recast Glyph of Energy followed by Magnetic Aura and Channeling. They are your prime surviving skills until you can recover more.
- Not much need to worry about interruption here, chances should be pretty slim. I haven't been interrupted at all by skills like Disruption Chop so far after >20 tries.
- There's no running skills incorporated (at least until I find a way to tweak it), so running to troll cave is going to be a pain if you somehow cannot avoid the Avicara patrol or if they are guarding the entrance. In such a situation, it may be best to rezone. You can try running through mobs with Physical Resistance, Glyph of Renewal + Magnetic Aura though, it works if the Avicara patrol is far from entrance and not a big pack.
Edit: Made a mistake on the allocation of attributes, confused with another build. :P
Edit 2: I've attached screenshots for reference. In the 2 runs, I've used a Insightful Jewelled Staff of Fortitude (Illusion Magic) just to show that even without 20/20 Earth Staff of Enchanting, this build can still work though not at its best. Not to mention, made a mistake on Magnetic Aura.

Nice little build here, useful for people who haven't PvE'd with the more common farming professions.
This is a criticism (in fact it's a plus point) but this will also work even better better for Ele's.

Nice build. The only real improvement I see that could be made would possibly be swaping out Ward Against Melee. 75% block from Magnetic Aura should be plently when coupled with Phys Resistance. You could throw in Crystal Wave/Tenai's Crystals for some nice armor-ignoring damage, or if you're worried about getting past the Avicara then you could dump some points into Illusion for Illusion of Haste or Air for Windborne Speed(the latter would probably be better since it doesn't have the annoying cripple after-effect). Otherwise, it's a nice build for people who don't have a Warrior/Monk/Ele, or just want to try out something different.

Thanks. I was trying to farm with my Me/E and was trying out the ones I found in GuildWarsGuru but couldn't seem to master them so I just came up with my own through trial and error. :P While I haven't tried with E/Me yet, I figured with it would be better at the damage output end, but without fast cast, I'm pretty sure it'll need some tweaking to work well.
@ DRGN:
Yea, replacing Ward Against Melee with Crystal Wave might work out too. I'll need to try it out though as the latter spell has a hefty amount of 15 Energy to cast. My build was able to solo with when down at 45% DP (well, sometimes I forget to watch out for Physical Resistance or Channeling, hehe) so an extra 5 Energy may mean alot at that time. Thanks for the suggestion!

@ DRGN
Crystal Wave / Tenai's Crystal works and kills alot faster. Only con to it is a lowered % of survivability but if nothing goes wrong, it's definitely the way to go! Thanks again for the suggestion, I've edited the post to reflect the variant.

also, instead of ward against melee, what if u used silver armor? gives even more of a chance to block, and deals a nice amount of damage in a big group
